Imagine you are in charge of processing data from thousands of cash registers worldwide, and each one does hundreds to thousands of transactions daily. To upload that data into your sales database, you could write an application that processes one line at a time slowly. You can also use MERGE() to process this information in bulk. MERGE() provides many options for handling the data so that it flows as needed and how you need it. You may not have cash registers, but you probably have other similar data that you want to load efficiently. MERGE() can make your life easier, but only if you know about it, and you can learn about it in this session!
