Moving from MSSQL to pgSQL - High Availability and Disaster Recovery
Presented by:
Rick Lowe
Rick comes from a background in Sybase and Microsoft SQL Server, where he is known as a performance tuning expert. After recently starting to work with PostgreSQL, he is currently working to highlight speed bumps that other folks from a MSSQL background may run into when ramping up on pg.
No video of the event yet, sorry!
Recently there has been an almost exponential uptick in the number of MSSQL DBA's who are starting to operate in the Postgres world. One area of friction can be high availability and disaster recovery approaches, if for no other reason the fact that these tend to be extremely edition ($$$) dependent on the SQL Server side. Please join us for a brief review of current Postgres high availability approaches and extensions, with a focus on comparing to and contrasting against what we are used to from the MSSQL world.
