John is a geospatial database engineer with over 30 years of experience. John is a devoted husband and father and enjoys crafting stained glass art, learning to play the guitar and listening to live music performances. He is an expert database engineer and multiple language programmer. In his current position with the US Forest Service, he is responsible for a herd of new mission critical PostgreSQL databases. He migrated these databases from Oracle using Python geoprocessing scripts which he developed based on the arcpy geoprocessing module from ESRI. His award winning “SDE Manager Toolbox “allows a single DBA to use infrastructure as code to provision, secure, migrate, maintain, and protect these vital customer environments powered by POSTGIS.
