Alexis is a software engineer on the Cloud SQL team as part of Google's public cloud, Google Cloud Platform. He has worked with PostgreSQL and a variety of distributed database technologies over the past decade.
Google Cloud has added PostgreSQL to it's managed services under Cloud SQL. Explore PostgreSQL offerings on Google Cloud and learn what underpins Google's Cloud SQL managed services. We'll examine the architecture of Persistent Disk and discuss its implications. The storage layer, called Persistent Disk, behaves differently than many block storage devices: add capacity to increase IOPS; grow the storage size while the database is running; enable automatic storage increases. This session will also go under the hood into the control plane that manages PostgreSQL, leveraging PostgreSQL along with other Google Cloud services and the future road map for PostgreSQL on Google's Cloud SQL.
