The emergence and adoption of DevOps practices at scale, following "Constraints"-based approaches such as Agile and Lean, has helped many businesses optimize their production strategy and keep pace with customer demand. Despite these advancements, hidden productivity bottlenecks still exist in our common build, test, and CI practices. Developers spend an inordinate amount of time waiting on feedback from local or remote build and test cycles. Tests can be non-deterministic or otherwise unreliable, leading to repeat work and organizational waste.

In this session, you'll learn how observing and tracking KPIs such as average build time, test failure rates and flakiness, and test cycle execution time can help your organization accelerate these tasks and greatly improve developer focus. Through a combination of data aggregation and acceleration technologies, a practice known as Developer Productivity Engineering (DPE), industry leaders such as Netflix, LinkedIn, and Twitter have seen production improvements of as much as 10x. Attendees will come away with an understanding of DPE and how to begin implementing these practices in their own organizations.
