No video of the event yet, sorry!

As a Postgres client targeting enteprises, Arctype is very interested in how the community can secure sensitive data to the highest standard. Transparent Data Encryption is a standard feature in Oracle and Microsoft databases, and it's long Postgres development timeline is preventing some enterprises from switching. This talk will start with a discussion of what security and compliance standards are met by TDE and which market segments and companies would be most needful. Then we will review of what encryption levels are available in other databases, including commercial versions of Postgres. In the middle of the talk we will trace the encryption options available today in Postgres and their various shortcomings. Finally we will chart the history of the development of this feature, what objections exist, and hope for it to land in the not too distant future.
